Faux finish any Thanksgiving turkey would appreciate.

Alright, in just a couple weeks you will have to hang out with a bunch of people you would rather not.  Many times family assert their opinions on your home in an unwelcomed way.  Now it’s time to show them!  Faux finish can be the very tool that will set them on their heels.  Here are some pointers for things you can do to rock their worlds and transform your home.

1)  Antique an old piece of furniture.  It’s up to you if you want to refinish that 200 year old family heirloom.  While I don’t suggest this (as it might cause an all-out family fued) you can update the that kitchen buffet or the kids bedroom set.  Just make sure it’s something you won’t have to give back to Aunt Mildred anytime soon.

2)  Paint cabinets or your bathroom vanity.  While cousin Lulu schemes on the potty the least you can do is give her something to keep her attention.  Transform your bathroom vanity with an aged look or something contemporary.

Something Urban In Faux Finish

This is Jared from Mojo Faux Finishes.  One of the exciting new trends in faux finish are “Urban Contemporary” looks.  This is really exciting that it’s becoming more mainstream.  In the Nashville area (which tends to lean more traditional) we’ve had a lot of folks indulging in some of the rich options that we have to offer.  Urban contemporary finishes can include a lot of different things.  The bottom line is that they can absolutely look like artwork.  If you want something exciting and amazing in faux finish check out some of the stuff online.

Cabinet Refinishing For The Slumping House Market

My wife and I own a faux finish and cabinet refinishing business in Murfreesboro.  Times are good for this industry.  In fact it has a 25% anticipated growth rate from year to year in the foreseeable future.  Due to the recent downturn in the housing market many folks have decided to stay in their homes and spruce them up.  They do this with faux finish in their kitchens, dining rooms, bathrooms, etc., etc.  A lot of people trying to sell their home or wanting to stay in their homes see their kitchen cabinets as an eyesore.  Dated 70s or 80s cabinets can be the very thing that keeps a house from selling.  Custom cabinet refinishing is a wonderful solution for these folks.  It can save literally thousands or tens of thousands of dollars, and it doesn’t come with the mess or lengthy install time that new cabinets or cabinet refacing comes with.  One of our recent customers got quotes for new cabinets and refacing.  The new ones were going to cost $60,000 and takes weeks to install.  Not to mention, they were going to eat out all of the time.  Refacing was a little better at only $40,000, but still with the long install and a big mess.  Custom cabinet refinishing to the rescue!  They were able to get exactly the finish they wanted on their cabinets, the project was completed in less than 2 weeks, and there was minimal mess.  And the best part of all of this – they only paid less than a tenth of what they would have spent on new cabinets.  Even though we’ve been doing the faux finish and cabinet refinishing thing for a while I’m pretty new at blogging.  Thanks for taking the time to read this, and remember – cabinet refinishing is where it’s at!
